We're getting towards the end of the week and that means you may need a few extra points to get a win this week. One of the best ways to do this is by picking up a pitcher just for his start. If you have an extra start this week, or need a few more stats to pad those categories, check out these pitchers to stream.
Paul Blackburn started the year on the IL due to a finger injury but has not missed a beat since returning. In 6 games, the 29 year old is 1-0 with a 3.77 ERA and 35 K’s through 31 innings. This Sunday he matches up against a White Sox team that ranks among the bottom for team offense in the MLB. Blackburn is rostered in 3.1% of ESPN leagues and while you may not get a win from him, he should be able to put up a respectable start.
Tyler Anderson can be looked to Saturday night for a start against the Diamondbacks. Now while the Diamondbacks have been one of the better offenses in baseball, they may be without their spark plug Corbin Carroll for a few days. The rookie left yesterday’s game with shoulder soreness and there have yet to be further updates. Although Anderson has a not so great 5.54 ERA this year, he is rostered in 29% of leagues and will presumably go up against a weakened Arizona lineup.
Aaron Civale won’t stuff the stat sheet however he has been able to put together effective starts in his 7 games since returning from the IL. The 28 year old has a 3.18 ERA on the season with 33 K’s in 39.2 IP. He matches up on Sunday against the struggling Jameson Taillon and the Cubs. Rostered in 13.3% of ESPN leagues, the combination of his effectiveness so far this season and the matchup make him a feasible start for those in need.
