Injury Report

Salvador Perez is day-to-day after taking a fastball to the left hand from Ben Lively in yesterday’s game vs the Reds. X-rays were taken and luckily everything came back negative. At the least Perez will probably be missing a couple of games with soreness and inflammation, but a stint on the IL is still possible. The Royals will announce more in the coming days about their franchise catcher.

Justin Steele threw a bullpen session on Tuesday to get ready for his return to the Cubs rotation this Saturday against the Orioles. Steele suffered a minor forearm strain almost two weeks ago and is planning on returning from the 15 day IL in the minimum time. Steele has been fantastic this season as he has a 2.65 ERA through 68 innings pitched.

Julio Urías threw a bullpen session yesterday and is preparing to make a minor league rehab start in the next few days. He was supposed to return to the Dodgers rotation last weekend but experienced a minor set back with his hamstring. If Urías can get through his minor league start cleanly we will see him back in the bigs in no time.

Notable Performances

Jake Burger went 2-5 with 2 HR’s, 3 RBI’s and 2 runs scored in the White Sox 8-4 victory over the Dodgers. The 27 year old started off the scoring with a solo shot in the 2nd off of Clayton Kershaw and then tied the game in the 8th with a 2 run shot. Burger has been average this season hitting .250 with 15 HR’s and 35 RBI’s. He has been a decent source of power but other than that does not provide much fantasy value.

Eury Perez continues to dazzle in his rookie season. The 20 year old threw a season high 6 shutout innings with one walk and 6 K’s while only giving up 2 hits. Despite not allowing more than 3 runs in any of his starts, there are rumors he may be sent down when Trevor Rogers returns from the IL. This is not deserved as he has a 1.80 ERA and 36 K’s through 35 innings but the Marlins are being careful with the youngsters work load.

Ronald Acuna Jr. took full advantage of 18 innings of baseball yesterday. Over the course of the doubleheader the 25 year old went 4-8 with 2 HR’s, 3 runs, 4 RBI’s and a stolen base. The 3 time All Star continues to contribute in every category this season making him the front runner for NL MVP. Acuna is hitting .333 with 15 HR’s, 44 RBI’s and 29 SB’s. Fantasy managers can plug him in their lineup and sit back and watch as he continues his historical season.
