Injury Report

Michael Harris Jr. exited yesterday’s game against the Marlins after jamming his right knee running to first base. It was a scary sight to see as Harris jammed his knee and went tumbling down the first base line. It was good to see him walk off the field under his own power as many people probably assumed this was a major injury. Luckily he will avoid a trip to the injured list, but will probably be missing a game or two as he is experiencing some anticipated soreness.

Kyle Wright has found himself back on the IL with right shoulder inflammation after his start yesterday. Wright exited after only 2 innings of work while the Braves led the Marlins 8-3. He started the season on the IL with a shoulder injury but it seems as though it was a little different than this one. Wright will probably be on the IL for at least a month as his arm can use all of the rest it can get.

Jameson Taillon will be making his way off of the IL today to start against the Nationals. The Cubs starter has been on the IL with a groin strain for the last two weeks but will be rejoining the team for a favorable matchup. In his few starts before his injury Taillon was pretty average as he gave up 7 runs with 16 K’s in 14 innings. Hopefully he has come back fully healthy and is ready to get his first win of the season.

Notable Performances

Christian Walker went 2-5 with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s in the DBacks 12-7 win over the Rangers. The 32 year old has been a bright spot in the middle of the order hitting .264 with 7 HR’s and 25 RBI’s. We can expect to see a lot more long balls if this year is anything like last season where he nearly eclipsed 40 homers.

Shane McClanahan went 6 innings giving up 1 run while striking out 9 to bring his season record to a clean 6-0. The lefty becomes the first pitcher in the majors to win 6 games this season as he appears to be picking up right where he left off last year. The 26 year old was named to his first All Star appearance last season and looks well on his way to his 2nd currently sitting with a 2.03 ERA and 51 K’s.

Vinnie Pasquantino was a key part in the Royals surprising 6-0 win over the Orioles. The lefty went 3-4 with a homer and 3 RBI’s. He has been on fire over the last three days combining to go 7-13 at the plate while adding 6 RBI’s. A bit of promise was shown in the 72 games he played last season and he seems to be keeping it up again this year. The 25 year old is hitting .292 with 6 HR’s but the main struggle is the 14 RBI’s which is out of his hands with the weak Royals offense.
