The Daily Reminder

The fantasy week is coming down the home stretch. Don’t forget to set your lineup and lock in your win!

Injury Report
Kenta Maeda has been placed on the 15 day IL after being diagnosed with a right tricep strain. The Twins are going to be a little cautious with Maeda as he did have Tommy John surgery a couple of years ago. They do not think this tricep issue has any connection to the surgery, but Maeda is still experiencing muscle discomfort and will require some time off.
Jacob Degrom has found himself on this list for the second start in a row. It has now been back to back starts that he has exited early from the game. This time it was because of right forearm tightness which is a little more worrisome than the sore right wrist he had last time. The Rangers have said that the exit was precautionary so hopefully it will not require a trip to the IL. The situation should be watched closely as it is always possible that he misses a start or two.
Tyler O’Neill was scratched from yesterday’s lineup due to back tightness. It is unclear how serious the injury is. He is still considered day to day so hopefully he may only miss a game or two. Back problems can be tricky so the Cardinals might send him to the IL in order to prevent any worsening of the injury.
Notable Performances
Isaac Paredes went 3-4 with a homer and an RBI in the Rays 3-2 win over the White Sox. He has had a fairly productive season with 4 HR’s and 18 RBI’s to go along with a .253 average. One of his main fantasy issues is that he is not an everyday player. Paredes usually sits 1-2 days a week because of their rotation of players. Although due to his production, the 24 year old has earned his spot but any kind of slump may start to eat into his playing time.
Salvador Perez gave a great effort in the Royals 8-6 loss to the Twins going 3-4 with a homer and 3 RBI’s. The 32 year old has earned his spot as one of the top fantasy catchers year after year and looks to stay there after a decent start to the season. On the season, he’s hitting .266 with 3 HR’s and 12 RBI’s. Although he’s getting up there in age, Perez continues to be a reliable option in a incredibly thin fantasy position.
Aaron Nola threw 8 innings with 1 ER and 6 K’s to carry the Phillies to a 3-1 win over the Astros. He has had a bit of an up and down year, struggling with command at times but last night he was brilliant. On the season the righty is 2-2 with a 4.46 ERA and 28 K’s through 36.1 IP. He has not given up more than 3 runs in any of this last 3 starts so fantasy owners are hopeful that is a trend that sticks.
