Injury Report

Tyler Glasnow is scheduled to throw 2 innings of a simulated game on Monday. He has yet to make his debut this year as he has been recovering from an oblique strain since late February. Facing live hitters is a big step in the rehab process and should excite fantasy owners. Glasnow is expected to be back sometime in the middle of May and should be a big piece of an already dominant Rays rotation.

Logan O'Hoppe was placed on the 10 day IL after he took an awkward swing vs the Yankees on Thursday. He looked to be in a lot of pain and discomfort as he exited the game due to a left shoulder injury. A similar thing happened to him earlier in the season vs the Red Sox but he was able to avoid a trip to the IL at the time. The Angels are not exactly sure what the injury is but we should be learning more in the next few days. Matt Thaiss appears to be lined up for the starting catching duties.

Kris Bubic is going to miss the rest of the season after learning he will need to undergo Tommy John surgery. The 25 year old had fantasy owners hopeful he would have a big year after a few strong starts to begin the season. Unfortunately his season has come to an end and he will look to take that step up in his game when he is able to return. Ryan Yarbrough is likely to slot into the rotation.

Notable Performances

Drew Smyly took a perfect game against the Dodgers into the 8th inning before it was broken up by a David Peralta dribbler up the 3rd base line. The veteran was taken out after the hit leaving him with a statline of 7.2 IP with 10 K's in 103 pitches. He's only rostered in 3.8% of ESPN leagues but the lefty is having a great season with a 3.13 ERA and 23 K's through 23 IP.

Shohei Ohtani threw 7 scoreless innings with 11 K's while only giving up 2 hits in the Angels 2-0 win over the Royals. The two way player also added one hit at the plate. He has been absolutely brilliant on the mound this season with a stellar 0.64 ERA and 38 K's through 28 IP. If that wasn't enough, he has added 4 HR's and 11 RBI's at the plate. Expect Ohtani to continue to impress as he has done over his career.

Zac Gallen nearly mimicked Ohtani's performance going 7 scoreless IP with 11 K's and 2 hits. The only difference between the two is that Ohtani walked 2 while Gallen's control was spot on with no walks. His last 20.2 IP have all been scoreless while striking out 28 hitters. The 27 year old hopes to stay hot as he looks to be named an All Star for the first time in his career.
