Injury Report

Cj Cron was activated from the IL yesterday after missing a month and a half with back spasms. The 33 year old looks to return to his usual everyday spot at first base. Cron is currently hitting .228 with 6 HR’s and 20 RBI’s and is looking to build off of last season where he was named a first time All Star.

Matthew Boyd was pulled from yesterday’s game with elbow discomfort after throwing only 15 pitches. The lefty is set to be evaluated today to determine whether he will have to miss any starts. Boyd is struggling this year with a 5.45 ERA and 73 K’s through 71 IP.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is returning to the Marlins lineup tonight after missing 6 weeks with turf toe. It will be interesting to see how he performs for the rest of the season as he will require offseason surgery to fully repair the issue. There has always been excitement around the power speed combo of the 25 year old but his main issue has been staying healthy. In 2023 he is hitting .229 with 7 HR’s, 16 RBI’s and 14 SB’s through 39 games.

Notable Performances

Spencer Strider is back to his old ways striking out 10 through 7 innings while only giving up 1 run in a 4-1 win over the Twins. This makes it back to back starts allowing only 1 run after consecutive starts of allowing at least 5 runs. Fantasy managers are glad to see that his slide is over with and he is returning to his usual self. The 24 year old is 9-2 on the year with a 3.73 ERA and a whopping 146 K’s through 91.2 IP.

Spencer Steer was 3-3 with a HR, a walk and 3 RBI’s in the Reds 10-3 loss to the Orioles. Unfortunately the rookie was the only one that could produce off of the Orioles pitching. After getting a small taste of the big leagues last season, Steer has been productive this year. The 25 year old is hitting .282 with 12 HR’s and 46 RBI’s to go along with 8 SB’s.

Andy Ibanez helped lead the Tigers to a 7-2 win over the Rangers by going 2-4 with a HR and 3 RBI’s. The 30 year old is usually fairly quiet at the plate but managed to put together a good day. His biggest fantasy appeal is his versatility as he is eligible at 2B, 3B and OF. Ibanez is hitting .238 with 5 HR’s and 14 RBI’s on the season.
