The Daily Reminder

The clock is ticking to the start of games. Don't forget to set your fantasy lineup!

Injury Report

Chris Bassitt was pulled from his start after a conference at the mound due to lower back tightness. He was throwing a great game, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits when he exited. Bassitt says the injury is nothing serious and he will not even be missing a bullpen. This is good news for fantasy managers as Bassitt is one of the more consistent pitchers in the league when healthy.

Yordan Alvarez sat out of yesterday's game due to neck discomfort. The lefty has been battling some neck pain for about a week and the Astros finally felt it was time to get it checked out. He was sent back to Houston in order to get an opinion on the issue. It is unclear whether this will warrant a trip to the IL, we will be getting more information in the next couple days.

Luis Arraez was held out of yesterday's lineup with a bruised left knee. Arraez has been a little banged up all year and it seems like this was just a day off to get his body feeling right. Arraez shouldn't miss more than a game or two more which is good news for fantasy owners. He should be reentering the lineup sometime soon this week and will continue to be a consistent bat for the Marlins.

Notable Performances

Spencer Strider gave up 2 hits through 8 innings while striking out 13 in the Braves 11-0 victory over the Marlins. The young righty has been absolutely brilliant this year going 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 49 K's through 30 IP. Strider is showing that his season last year that got him 2nd in ROY voting was no fluke. The strikeout machine continues to prove his dominance, making it much watch baseball each time he takes the mound.

Alex Cobb threw a complete game shutout with 4 K's and 1 BB to earn the win against the Cardinals in the 4-0 victory. The veteran has pitched effectively this season, not giving up more than 2 runs in any of his starts. While he has always been a fairly reliable back of the rotation starter, Cobb is flashing signs of greatness this year. Who knows how long he can keep this up but his stellar 1.91 ERA is a welcome sight for all fantasy owners.

Brandon Drury went 3-4 with 2 HR's and 4 RBI's in the Angels tough 11-10 loss to the A's. After having a career year last season, Drury has struggled early this year hitting .211 with 3 HR's and 9 RBI's. With a career .251 batting average, we can expect him to pick it up at the plate as the year goes on. The only question is if he can continue to find the power to eclipse his 28 HR mark from last season.
