Injury Report

Michael Conforto was taken out of yesterday’s game due to left hamstring tightness. The outfielder appeared to tweak his hamstring after running into a wall making a play. There have not been any further updates on the injury but expect him to miss a day or two while they look into the issue.

Julio Urias is set to come off the injured list and start this Saturday against the Royals. The 26 year old looked sharp in his only rehab start striking out 8 batters through 4 innings. Urias has missed about a month with a hamstring strain so there is a possibility he’s on a pitch limit but regardless, he has a favorable matchup against the Royals.

Nolan Arenado was pulled from yesterday’s game, after going 1-3 with a HR and 3 RBI’s, with lower back tightness. He was officially designated day to day so it does not appear to be a serious injury. The All Star 3B should miss a trip to the IL but expect him to potentially miss a couple of days.

Notable Performances

Domingo German was brilliant last night throwing the first perfect game in the MLB since 2012. The 30 year old needed only 99 pitches to get through 9 innings while striking out 9 hitters along the way. This performance was a pleasant surprise considering he allowed 15 combined runs over his last 2 starts. The historic performance puts him at 5-5 on the season with a 4.54 ERA and 78 K’s.

Patrick Corbin put things together last night throwing 7 shutout innings with 9 K’s without allowing a walk. The lefty has been flat out horrible the last few seasons but every once in a while he flashes back to his former self. Corbin is 5-9 this year with a 4.93 ERA and 66 K’s. After leading the National League in losses the past two seasons, fantasy managers are hopeful the 33 year old can have more starts like this.

Seby Zavala matched his HR total from last year in just a single game last night going 3-4 with 2 HR’s and 4 RBI’s in the White Sox 11-5 win over the Angels. The catcher has struggled this season so he does not get consistent playing time but games like this should help his cause. The 29 year old is hitting .168 on the year with 6 HR’s and 15 RBI’s.
