Injury Report

Merrill Kelly has been placed on the 15 day IL with a blood clot in his right calf. There is not yet a clear timetable for his return, however Ian Kennedy did return in 25 days from a similar situation last year. What is most important for the Diamondbacks right now is making sure Kelly can get through this without any other complications so he can get back to the best season of his career.

Yu Darvish was scratched from his start yesterday vs. the Pirates due to an illness. We haven’t heard the severity of the illness but hopefully it is nothing too serious and he will make his next start in the rotation. He has not had the best year as he is 5-6 with a 4.84 ERA. He hopes to pick it up in the second half of the season.

Matthew Boyd will miss the remainder of the season and most of, if not all of the 2024 season, as he is undergoing Tommy John surgery. Boyd has had a pretty inconsistent year, he is 5-5 with a 5.70 ERA but has had some impressive starts. Unfortunately his year has come to an end and we hope to see him back in the big leagues soon.
